Proof of Insurance/Request for ID Card

"In Ohio, it is illegal to drive any motor vehicle without insurance or other financial responsibility (FR) proof. It is also illegal for any motor vehicle owner to allow anyone else to drive the owner's vehicle without financial responsibility."

The above statement is taken directly from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Motor Vehicles Division. Insurance is mandatory in the state of Ohio; therefore, insurance ID cards are provided with all new business policies, as well as with each subsequent renewal. These ID cards are to remain in your vehicle at all times as proof of insurance on that vehicle, should you be involved in a motor vehicle accident or pulled over for a violation.
